Q: What is the breakdown of the results?

Within the cohort of 4 students, 2 clinched grade A1 and A2, 1 achieved B3. Absolutely impressive result! Our Einstein elites come from Catholic High School, Bartley Secondary School and Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School.

Q: How did the students achieve their desired grades?

They did regular revision to help them remember the important concepts from previous topics and understand the newer topics better which were built up from the older ones. Their revision included the extensive coverage of all the Sec 3 and Sec 4 topics via the school notes, tuition notes and guidebooks as well as the consistent attempt of the past year school exam papers and the ten-year series. Through practice of the exam-based questions, they could identify the topics that required additional clarification from the tutor. The students would take their own initiatives to approach the tutor frequently to clarify their questions. 

Q: What did the tutors do to help the students in this subject?

The Chemistry tutor would go through every single topic in complete details, placing greater emphasis on the core concepts. The tutor would test the students frequently these concepts to train them up on the retention skills. Next, he would teach the students progressively how the concepts could be applied to the questions, along with specific key words and phrases that were required to answer them. Furthermore, the tutor would not hesitate to set similar questions consistently both in class and homework to check whether the students truly understood the key ideas behind the relevant concepts of each topic.

Q: What changes were observed in the students over the course of study?

The students were gradually able to recall the core concepts from both the current topic and the previous topics. However, they had difficulties in applying the concepts to the questions, not knowing which concept to apply and how to incorporate the relevant concept into the context of the questions so that they would avoid giving a general answer and being penalised. Over the course of study, with guidance and thorough trainings from the tutor, they acquired the analytical skills to answer the questions in context using the relevant keywords and phrases, which boosted their confidence and accuracy in tackling their prelim exams.

Q: How is Einstein Education Hub different from other centres?

At Einstein, we make sure to go through each concept thoroughly. Questions are asked at regular intervals to assess the students’ understanding of key ideas. Additional questions are then given out at the end of each lesson to review the students’ competency with explanations. The tutors will then reinforce the answering techniques, key words and phrases required to answer exam-based questions, so that the students will be able to apply them to similar questions during their WAs, prelims and O levels.
