The students gave their fullest attention and stayed focused to grasp the tuition lessons better. They did not snowball their doubts but take initiatives to ask questions whenever they were unsure of the lesson content or the questions.
Q: What did the tutors do to help the students in this subject?
The Math tutors consistently tested the students on the core concepts involving the methods, the steps and the formulas. They would not hesitate to set additional questions to strengthen the competencies of the students, starting with the fundamentals to the more complex applications. This not only built up their foundation but also deepened their analytical skills and application skills. More importantly, the tutors would give positive affirmations and encouragements to assure the students that they were on the right track in terms of performance and confidence level.

Initially, some students were soft-spoken and reserved, dared not to open up when they faced difficulties. However, with the tutors’ encouragements, they gradually developed the confidence and trust in the tutor for reliable guidance. Over time, the students became more careful in their work. At first, there were numerous errors including the basic ones in their work. Now, they took more accountability and checks in their work to ensure they submit the best possible answers.
