SUCCESS 047: Jun Hao S4 EX A Math and Combined Physics WA1 2025

Einstein Smartie: Jun Hao
2025 WA1: Sec 4 EX A Math Grade A1, Combined Physics A1

Jun Hao’s Success Motto: “SUCCESS is not the absence of failure, it’s the PERSISTENCE through failure!”

Q: What results did you get for A Math and Combined Physics in the Sec 3 EOY exam last year and the WA1 this year?

I scored B3 for A Math and A2 for Combined Physics in my EOY exam last year. Knowing that I can achieve more, I worked hard for the WA1 this year and my efforts paid off with double distinctions A1 for both A Math and Combined Physics.

Q: What did you do in your preparation for the WA1 this time round and how was it different from last time?

For the A Math WA1 preparations, I would go through the tuition notes and the school textbook thoroughly and redo some questions from the tuition materials to be sure that I could understand and recall how to apply the methods accurately when solving the questions. Next, I would select some random questions from the ten-year series (TYS) to practice on and test myself in analyzing the questions as well as broaden my knowledge on the proper methods used to solve the exam-based questions.

For the Physics WA1 preparations, I would collate the notes from tuition and school. I also created mind map for each topic to have a stronger understanding of the topics to be tested. I would also redo the questions that I did wrongly last time to ensure that I was on the right track in terms of understanding and application of core concepts.

As compared to my previous preparations, I feel that now I have additional notes thanks to the tuition centre which I can use them to verify my other notes. More helpful is that I can approach the tutors for more clarification which enables me to be more prepared and confident for the upcoming O level exam.

Q: What did the tutors in the Achievers’ class do to help you in this subject?

The Physics tutor gave a lot of real-life examples and simulations which made the lesson interesting, thus it helped me to gain a better understanding of the concepts. He would always prompt the class with quality hints and tips that would set me thinking on how to answer the tough questions using the relevant concepts and keypoints.

The A Math tutor would constantly remind the class of the proper revision techniques and is also very approachable, welcoming questions before or after tuition. He is very detailed in his explanation of the effective methods, always advocates clarity in our work through systematic and step-by-step approach every time we do the questions.

Q: What is your target for the O level exam this year? What will you do to achieve it?

Definitely double distinctions A1 for both A Math and Combined Physics in the O level exam.

I will clarify more questions regularly with the tutors and not hide any doubts. I will do more questions from the past year prelim papers and the TYS to gain more exposure and experience to a larger pool of questions that may be similarly tested in the O level exam.

What Team Einstein says:

Spectacular result, Jun Hao! Your performance is highly impressive yet outstanding, continue your excellent form all the way to the O level. We will work closely with you to bring out your best to achieve what you set out for in the O level, double A1 for A Math and Combined Physics!
