Q: What results did you get for E Math in the Sec 3 EOY exam last year and the WA1 this year?

I underperformed in my E Math EOY exam with grade U. I did not give up but worked very hard this year to outperform in the WA1 with an outstanding grade 1.

Q: What did you do in your preparation for the WA1 this time round and how was it different from last time?

Last time, I rarely studied for my WAs and exam because I could not understand my school notes. For the WA1 this time round, I made efforts to study the tuition notes and understand well the methods needed to use to solve the questions. I also paid attention to the extra details in the tuition notes on the common errors that I should avoid from making when doing the questions. I would study consistently 3 times a week to fully understand the methods and the steps before I went on to do the questions from the ten-year series.

Q: What did the tutors in both the Achievers’ and the Focus class do to help you in this subject?

The E Math tutors in both the Achievers’ class and the Focus class taught me the effective methods to solve the questions within the topics. They explained very clearly how the methods worked and how to use them in a step-by-step manner which I could understand very well. If I was unable to understand, the tutors would reteach and reexplain in a more simplified manner and give more relevant examples until I was able to string everything together. The tutors would also ensure that I stayed focus in all the lessons by giving me frequent reminders on what I need to do and show them during the lessons and not be distracted by other stuff. To help me improve my Math, the tutors would identify the problems that I have and consistently set questions both in the class and homework to strengthen my capabilities to solve the questions which used to give me problems.

Q : What is your target for the N level this year? What will you do to achieve it?

My target for the N level this year is grade 2.

I will come up with a new study schedule to better manage my time especially for revision. I will do my homework consistently and revise more on my own. I will also bring questions to ask the tutors to clear all my doubts.
