22 May Einstein Smartie: Rijin 2025 WA2: JC1 H1 Math Grade A
Q: What results did you get for H1 Math in the WA1 and WA2 this year?
I did not perform well for my WA1, only scoring a 44/100 (S grade), but this setback motivated me to put in more effort, and worked my way up to an 84/100 (A grade) for WA2.
Q: What did you do in your preparation for the WA2 this time round and how was it different from last time?
Previously, when I had private tuition lessons, I did not attend them regularly. I also did very little practice questions during revision, often giving up easily because I did not understand either the topics or the questions. The result of this lack of discipline was reflected in my WA1 results.
However, for the WA2 this time round, I made sure to review my work regularly and consolidate what was taught in Math lessons in school on the very same day after school. This elevated my understanding of the topic and strengthened my competency in applying the concepts and methods into solving the questions. I also made reference to the notes given to me by Einstein, which has been helpful in providing minor yet critical details highlighted by my tutor, extending my knowledge beyond the syllabus and helping me avoid common pitfalls.
Q: What did your tutor do to help you in this subject?
Through extensive and repetitive coverage of different types of questions, as well as the help of my Tutor, my confidence in knowing how to properly apply various methods when solving the questions on my own has grown, motivating me to persevere even when I am unsure of where to start at first. I also find the exercises @Einstein more reflective of the questions encountered in my WA2 and in the A Level Ten Year Series (TYS).
I am from the Arts stream in my college and never expected to grasp these Maths concepts so well, but my tutor makes everything clear, approachable, and applicable to real life situations as well. His detailed explanations, patience, and ability to simplify complex ideas have truly made learning enjoyable and digestible. I also find the centre’s notes easier to understand as compared to my school’s notes, and there are regular checkpoints where I am able to clarify any doubts effectively before moving on to the next topic.
Q: What is your target for the promotional exams (Promo) this year? What will you do to achieve it?
With my tutor’s guidance, I have created a newfound revision regime that I am confident will allow me to maintain my A for my promotional exams (Promo). I will add past year Promo papers as practice, completing them with close reference to both my consolidated school notes and tuition notes of all the topics that will be tested, especially the topics covered at the beginning of the year.
