Editing
  • Understand the full spectrum of the grammar rules and apply it diligently onto the questions by identifying the mistake and filling up with the correct answer.

 

Graphic stimulus
  • Fully absorb the details on the advertisement and answer the question using the context of the advertisement, explaining in details and elaborate on the reasons for the details given.

 

Comprehension
  • Appreciate the txt and analyse the main events in each paragraph, undertaking the rationale behind it and link up the events to make sense of the entire passage.
  • Understand the meaning of the questions and locate the answers from the passage, providing full details in the answer with respect to the context of the passage.
  • Analyse and infer certain sentences from the passage to further elaborate the implications and meanings behind it.
  • Understand what the summary question is asking for and locate precisely the relevant points from the required part of the passage.  Apply connectors and linking words to enhance the flow of the summary within the word limit of 80 words.
Oral and Listening Comprehension
  • Pay close attention to the audio text and pick out the relevant information as answers to the listening comprehension questions.
  • Read the oral text aloud confidently, pronouncing the words and syllables clearly.  Enhance the reading with feelings and emotions to bring out the real-life scenarios like the effects of a movie.
  • Plan the conversation topic swiftly in the mind and express it in clear and grammatically correct English. Converse confidently with sensible points and elaborate logically before rounding up with a convincing conclusion.

 

Argumentative writing
  • Brainstorm the main points of the essay question, taking a two sided approach even after making a stand to support one side.
  • Make a strong elaboration for the main point in each paragraph, providing logical and reasonable explanations.
  • Present a well-balanced essay by providing for the other side a sound explanation with detailed reasonings and data.
  • Craft out a decent introduction to make a stand to capture the marker’s attention and construct a valid conclusion to reinforce the stand and round up the essay with concrete points for the marker to take away with after reading the entire essay.

 

Situational writing
  • Remember the different format of situational writings such as email, proposal, reports, articles and speech.  Using the information provided in the question, elaborate the points with relevant details and regulate the tone of the essay from informal to formal accordingly.
